• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Italy photorealistic ground textures - 4 seasons + night

Ciao beh lo scenario è spettacolare, sembra un ottimo lavoro.
Che immagini usi? problemi di copyright?

Ciao Grazie, Andrea

Looks very nice. What resolution is the imagery and how big is this scenery if it covers so much land?

Thanks Andrea and Arno!

This is a work I am doing for myself using copyrighted images I can't give away (bgl included).

I am using aerial images (no satellite) shot by airplane for the whole country. Yes Arno I am talking about the whole italian territory. 400 LODs

One month spent in trying and testing and now I amready to start the production.

more night versions

Hi guys!

I've made 3 more versions of the night variation. I'd like your opinion about what you like the most.

See the lastflash slideshow (can be opened fullscreen) HERE

Thanks!
Gabriele

You know... according to the feedback I am getting from all over the world, it seems like I made some kind of miracle for FSX, especially considering I can make an whole europen country in less than 3 months.

Basically, they are sending me such big offers that I have my head spinning since this morning.

I am planning to make partnerships with scenerists (3D) and imagery providers to build the most accurate and important scenery for FSX and for real training simulators.

I am going to post soon in this forum to explain my ideas.

That's because it is alot of work to do the seasonal variations and night for a whole country. And also to make it look good.

Looking forward to your ideas. Having the right imagery to start with is very important. If you have the right input data (imagery and vector data) it is not that hard to generate for example a night version. But getting such data for free is the hardest part for most scenery designers.

Arno my ideas are posted here: http://www.vero-fs.com/about

It's not hard to do anything when you know how to do it. Please understand, I am not trying to say I am the best on the planet in Photoshop work, I am not that stupid. But, saying that it is an easy job I think it's a little too much since I still find post in the internet (as well as in this forum) where people all around the world are trying to make night variations. I've seen a lot of works and they don't look that great, especially those made in large scale (big areas). This theory is strengthen by the fact I am getting job offers even from... well... let's leave this for now.

Of course I am still working at that night variation because I want to improve it and I have found other techniques, n the last couple of days, that improve my work very much.

Alright, if you have imagery and you want to collaborate with me prividing them, my offer is a percentage of the sales. So, just use my website form to write to me some info about what you have and we see what we can do.

Also to get imagery is very easy. The "problem" is not getting the imagery (even for free) but it is that it takes some work to make them ready for me to work at them. So I need a partner that will take care of that part. I am also willing to pay a flat fee without partnering but, since it's an important project, why not sharing it with passionate simmers and smart guys like you I admire very much for their knowledge?

So, for now Vero FS is a business opportunity but tomorrow, who knows.

Just so you guys know, I am already evaluating partners so, if you are interested, don't sleep over it.

Love to ya all,
Gabriele

Hi Gabriele,

Thanks for the link.

I am not saying your work has been easy, but the point I was trying to make is that having access to the right data is very important. At work a colleague and I have been making a night version of an aerial photo by combining the day version with vector data that tells you where roads, towns, etc are. The results were quite good (but we were not working on a FS scenery). It could very well be that you have found a better or easier way to get even better looking images.

I still think that the problem is that most FS developers do not have access to the amount of data needed. Even getting access to good aerial images of one season is already quite difficult, unless you have a big bag of money.

I think that is one of the reasons the screenshots you are showing are so stunning, everybody would love to fly over such a scenery :).
