• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all,
Just before I begin I want to let u all no I really love this free software u have given to the community:)

My problem is this, I was able to modify my stock airport(cysb,Sudbury
Ontario) with no complications , but as I wanted to modify (cyow,Ottawa Ont) the only error I receive is...(Can't copy BGL file into the destination folder:
c:\users\james\documents\bglcomp\ottawa\Macdonald-cartier Intl CYOW BGL(The system canot find the path specified) I don't even see the path "Ottawa\Macdonald-Catier Intl" anywhere:confused: So I'm wondering is this "bgl" in my computer somewhere I can't find,or Is it more complicated then that?

Scruffy duck please help!

Thx Sixxer:cool:

Where do you have FSX Planner installed?

Thanks for replying Jon,

I have it installed on my (D) drive, under a file called "fsx planner".

I also wanted to ask u,where do u keep the :XML "files under?

Thx Sixxer,AKA, James,

Well you can put them anywhere that is not in a folder controlled by UAC. I am looking at your file name and wonder if the '-' and spaces are causing the compiler a problem?

Also are you sure that the compile is successful? Have you run the fault finder to check for errors?

Not sure I understand that "symbol "and "spaces"thing and fault finder? do u mean "error checking"?

thx,

Many tools and utility programs are "old-school" and do not honor blank spaces or special characters in paths or filenames.

To be safe, use only the letters a-z, numbers 0-9, an underscore (_), and no blank spaces.

IOW:
Macdonald_cartier_Intl_CYOW

Bill answered the first part. Yes, sorry - I don't use FSX Planner so I used the wrong terminology. Error Checking is what it is called in this program.

Thax for all your help guys!

That does make sense, and I really like to try to change it,but I can't seem to find the "cyow.bgl file" I've looked everywhere for it,even tried a search threw vitsa but nothing came up! I'm pretty sure that if the "cyow bgl' is comeing up in the error box it must be on my system right!

thx,Sixxer

c:\users\james\documents\bglcomp\ottawa\Macdonald-cartier Intl CYOW BGL

This is the file being reported. It appears to be in your 'My Documents' folder structure in \bglcomp\ottawa\

I did what "n49ix" said put the underscore in and #signs and nothing worked...until I changed the "bgl" file name in the compile box from"Ottawa\Macdonald Carier Intl" to just "CYOW"!!

It is now working like a charm:D:D:D:D:D:D

Thx for all your help friends! I
m pretty sure I
ll be back for lot more questions in the near future...if that
's alright with u:rolleyes:

Oh I forgot something to ask!

When ever I compile I get two "bgl files" is this the norm?

thx again:)

Not in the same folder. One is in my addon scenery folder and the other in my bglcomp folder,in the scenery folder the file is"CYOW.bgl" and in the bglcomp folder it's"CYOW.bgl" not identical! Now when I delete them both and do a recompile two compile back in those folders!

Well maybe that is something that FSX Planner does. If you open each in turn can you see any differences?
