• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

As A newbie to Mission Creation I am trying to create my own very first Mission, getting to the point of setting up the SDK and eventually seeing the Tools menu on the FSX screen and setting everything up has been quite harrowing, but with the great help of this site I managed it. So I get the Object Placement Tool on the screen, only to find that my aircraft keeps moving (slewing). After a lot of head scratching I realize that I have a CH Flight Sim Yoke and Pedals and ajusting the fine adjustment wheel on the left of the Yoke stops the aircraft and keeps it still, I realize that most joysticks have this kind of adjustment, so I have put this post on to stop others loosing there hair like me.

That's a good point. I think that it's possible to use key commands (num pad) to steer the objectplacement camera though. ;)

For those joystick that do not have a mechanical ZERO adjustment, FSUIPC (registerted) , and some of the Joystick Calibration software that comes with some joysticks, allow you to calibrate the ZERO output of the joystick.

I use FSUIPC, which has the added advantage that you can set a non-linearity into the joystick, so around the center, a small defelection represents a very small output value, which helps with precise placement.

One way is to setup FSX to not use the joystick in slew mode.

I prefer to use the keyboard when slewing around, more control.

joystick creep

I use the CH products and find that however well you calibrate them, the centre positions for the axes are still only general owing to the inherent vagaries of the construction.
My remedy is to disconnect when slewing.
Could use the keyboard/joystick toggle I suppose, but never tried it 'cos just thought about this as an option.:o
