• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Land class and object placement problem

Not sure if this is a SBX or ADE issue. Strange, because it seems like my land class trees are where I designed them, but the ponds I designed are not where they're supposed to be. Also the boat I placed isn't in the right place either.

Hello:

IIUC, you are referring to 'custom' Autogen tree annotations placed for a 'custom' photo-real aerial imagery land class BGL made via SBuilderX, and are stating that those Autogen tree annotations are in the locations that you intended. :scratchch

You need to provide much more details about the "ponds" and the "boat" placement in order for us to understand what you are referring to, and in order to offer any meaningful troubleshooting ideas. :alert:

Also, you need to use either Windows clipboard or another utility to capture larger, clearer screenshots so we can see what you are referring to, and in some cases, to see what application or utility is being used to display the attached image.

Pertinent info may include: ;)

1.) What application was used to create the "ponds" (SBuilderX, ADE etc.)

2.) What type of terrain land class texture is the "pond" objects intended to be displayed with:

a.) Default land class

b.) Custom photo-real aerial imagery land class made via SBuilderX

3.) What application was used to place the "boat" (SBuilderX, ADE etc.)

4.) Is the "boat" a default, 3rd party, or custom-made scenery library object, and does it use "Draw Call Batching"

BTW: Press < Alt> and <PrtScrn> together to 'capture' a current active task window screenshot into Windows clipboard.

Then 'paste' the clipboard contents into ex: Windows Start Button > Programs > Accessories > MS-Paint

Save as a JPG to attach to posts here in the forum thread.

BTW: I think its about time to share a forum avatar first name for us to greet you with beside "Aspireman" :p!

I'm not at my computer right now. Used SBX for the satellite image. Blend mask and water mask worked for the most part. Used ADE for the land classes. As I said earlier the tree land class lines up fine to the tree line of the satellite image. The boat is a stock FSX object. The water is Perennial River water class. I used FSX to find the lowest elevation of the pond and wrote that for the elevation of the water class. Although water for the ponds aren't my biggest concern the plop trees that I'll put in later will be, plus the boats and any buildings I may add. I have not done so with them yet. Need a break sometimes. Hope this is helpful. As for the pictures I am away from any internet on my computer for the most part. I uploaded the pictures on my phone and down size them because it aways says that they are too large. Then I upload them here.

Hi Chris:

We can sort this scenario out a bit more when you are back at your computer.

Here's my further interpretation of what you are describing...:scratchch

You have 'custom' Autogen tree annotations placed for a 'custom' photo-real aerial imagery land class BGL made via SBuilderX, and are stating that those Autogen tree annotations are aligned with the real world aerial imagery tree locations as you intended.

You used a Blend Mask and Water Mask for the 'custom' photo-real aerial imagery land class BGL made via SBuilderX.

You made a CVX vector polygon textured with Perennial River water class for the pond area which you placed within the Geographic coverage extents of the 'custom' photo-real aerial imagery land class BGL made via SBuilderX, and it is intended to match the location of the pond within the real world aerial imagery texture.

You want the Perennial River water class polygon texture color for the pond area to show through to the top of the 'custom' photo-real aerial imagery land class BGL made via SBuilderX using the Blend Mask for transparency.

You also want the "Hydro" water attributes of floating / splashing SimObjects, default FS "LivingWater" wave patterns (not to be confused with shoreline 'breaker'-type waves) to be seen, while also showing 'some' of the underlying aerial imagery texture for the pond.

Your CVX vector polygon textured with Perennial River water class and having FS "Hydro" water attributes for the pond area ...is not aligned with the underlying real world aerial image location of the pond.

You also placed a boat on the pond; it is intended to be aligned with the edge of the adjacent pier in the pond area.

That boat does not render in its intended position (aligned with a pier in the pond area) when seen in FS at run time.

When you refer to "plop trees", you mean FS default trees placed as scenery library objects using an object placement feature in SBuilderX or ADE, and which are compiled via BGLComp-type-XML and not placed / compiled as Autogen objects via the FS SDK Annotator utility.

Let me know if I have correctly interpreted your troubleshooting scenario when you are back at your computer. :)

Face palm, I must of been off by one number when adding the coordinates. All fixed. One plus, since all there are is trees on the island, I don't have to add any tree land class.
