• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

hello all, im now using AIFP to get retro traffic into the sim. but i don't know what the yellow bands around the aircraft airports and flight plans mean! am i doing anything wrong to get the flight plans working?
im also using legacy importer and MCX to try and get it going

I do not believe Legacy Importer integrates FSX models well enough into MSFS that they will successfully have AI flight plans applied to them.

well, the models do work, as someone on the retro ai traffic group got them working! but i think its because of the BGL files!
is there a way to fix them? or are they not supported anymore?

The fact that you are asking here and using MCX to try to enable MSFS flight plans for non MSFS aircraft suggests they actually do not work without modification.

The aircraft files themselves could be edited to work as native MSFS AI, it wouldn't be too hard to learn how to do it. As to AIFP, that developer has passed and it is no longer supported. For editing planes, you want to look up the user "tgibson."

Unfortunately, I have no experience with 2020 flight plan files so someone else will need to chime in.

Yes well the flight plans are pretty much identical, but I forgot you stopped at FSX, sorry. Pretty sure it's just export the textures as .png, export the model as .gltf. MCX can make a scenery package, I think you'd want to use FSPackagetool to make an aircraft, but about a year or so ago I wrote a series of posts about how easy it is to remove animated components from default aircraft and merge them to your own and that probably was all done with MCX. I don't have any links, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. I have a few scenery packages that have AI planes I made from basic 3d models and then did the animated parts merge trick. It's not exactly FS9 AI aircraft, but the principal is the same and you could download those to reverse engineer. It's all at flightsim.to. These two below are in the Zhubi Reef scenery. The drone uses the landing gear from the SDK sample SimpleAircraft project, the black jet uses the landing gear from the F-18 Hornet and there is a third AI plane in the package that uses the landing gear from the 747. They're all user flyable, no cockpit sorry.

The yellow bands are an AIFP setting under Options -> "Enable Alternate Line Colors" make sure to turn the checkmark off :D

Also your flight plans are working, MSFS has had an issue since one of the sim updates where the offline AI scheduling is broken, it's pulling time from the computer system, not sim time. Asobo fixed it previously but re-introduced the bug again on one sim update and haven't fixed it again, so you have to set your computer system time manually and even then the schedules are off by a few days.
