• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

is there a light limit is fsx because i am modding a carreir and i put about 30 lights in yet only 18 appear when i go into fsx so some help plz? thanks! =)

I am wondering about this too....although I am still testing.

Im creating a large number of street lights but cant get any to show? I was wondering if there is a limit to the amount of placed effects (i.e. not attached, placed with XML) per scene or per bgl?

I have around 4500 points (spread across a large area)- I noticed there was mention of a limit in the wiki but couldnt work out if this was still relevant to FSX and relevant to placed effects.

Hi,

I am not sure about FSX but in FS2004 it used to be a fact that the same effects would not show if they were visible at the same time. In order to have them visible the effect file you use, should not be called the same. If you have exactly the same effect in a scenery, try giving them different names, e.g. fx_beacon_light.fx, fx_beacon_light1.fx etc.
Haven't the faintest if this will help but it might be worth a try?

I did get it working :) There does seem to be some sort of limit though.....flying in small towns all the lights show up (my script will automatically assign a scenery density to each point) but in large cities they dont....presumably because there are too many...or maybe my computer is too slow haha

I don't know if this is directly relevant to the way you are attaching lights to your carrier model, but in FSX there is a hard limit in the [LIGHTS] section of the aircraft.cfg file that restricts you to attaching only 19 lights/effects.
