• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS24 Lights does not export from Blender.

Hi!

I am using Blender and the adobo exporter to get my objects into MSFS2024. However, I can't get any lights exported. Any solution to this or do I still have to make my projects in MSFS2020?

Another question; any tips on how to get the custom aerials to work in MSFS2024? I have several projects made in MSFS2020 that has custom aerials and these does not show in MSFS2024. Any solution or method to recommend?

First you have to convert your scene to MSFS2024, use this menu item:

You have to have both the 2020 and 2024 exporter addons active to do this. This action will convert your 2020 lights to 2024 lights. Then you should deactivate the 2020 addon.
Then you have to almost redefine your light object in the 2024 light section here:

For point lights the cone angle should be 360. Intensity is now given in cd so much bigger values are needed compared to the kW given in 2020 version. Some trial and error is needed.
If you are using emissive materials in oblects for lights these also need to have big figures in the emissive scale in order to show, again trial and error will lead to the best figure for your needs:

Hope this helps.

Thanx...it seems like it was the cone angle that was the problem....:)

Hi, I import the original 2020 gltf with both exporters active, select convert to MSFS2024 scene and nothing happens. Lights are still point elements.

Any idea what Im doing wrong?

IIRC, it is generally recommended to only have (1) MSFS Extension-type glTF format exporter active in Blender at a time while prepping and exporting such files.

Most authorities suggest only using specific numeric versions of Blender and the Asobo proprietary exporter cited in certain threads here at FSDEV.

But that is the conclusion of a confessed non-user of Blender. ;-)

Thanks Gary, per above...it looks like for the converter to work you have to have both 2020 and 2024 exporters enabled just for the conversion....then immediately 2020 is disabled after the conversion....but in my case.....not converting at all.
