• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Is it possible to locate fs-base-genericairports in MSFS2024 the setup wizard can not find it , nor can I.
Read several posts all mostly all for MSFS2020. Appreciate some direction thanks./

"Is it possible to locate fs-base-genericairports in MSFS2024"
Yes but that may not help with this 'setup wizard'

2024 is streamed, so those 'fs-base packages' are all combined on the server
the bgl's your looking for will be in VFSProjection\\Scenery\ (inside the same numbered folders found in fs-base-genericairports\Scenery\ in 2020)
the VFS Projector in the 2024 Dev Mode will allow you to see them but that probably wont help if this app is not 2024 compatible

Thank you for your response. In other words I can not pull up a stock airport in MS2024 and possibly fix the parking spots??

I have used the VFS to acquire compressed KTX2 files it works well.

afaik that is totally possible to do that without reverse engineering or directly accessing the game files
Im not exactly a scenery dev but the process would be something like ...

In Dev Mode start a new project and select to Overwrite that icao airport (this removes nothing up front) then in the airport Properties remove the taxiways and parking spots from the default and rebuild them

You might need to replace runways, taxiways, parking and jetways. You could use ADE to create a airport using MSFS2020 airports, which can be decompiled. For small airports, just using DevMode is a good way to go. You can't just add a parking spot. All the above elements are connected for ground movement of airplanes.

you only need to replace the taxiways and parking spots afaik, they are connected,
runways and jetways are only 'matched visibly' to them, so if you dont change the jetways or runways you just need to place the new taxiways and parking correctly to reuse them as is, the taxiways and runways need 'taxiway points' that are in the correct relative position but they are just a visual parts of the system

In the past I would access the generic airport file in MS2020 create a project in ADE using the stock airport option when finished then compile it and port it over into MS2024 worked fine. I don't have Ms2020 installed right now so I was looking for a solution. Dev Mode will work though I like some of the simple features to augment and add objects in ADE. I have use this tool for years and enjoy the simplicity. Dev mode is much more involved and prone to errors if not done correctly.
Oh well the fading of a era is at hand.

Take for instants these parking spots on a default airport. Haven't figured out how to delete them in Dev mode. In ADE it's easy to do, click and they are gone........................

yea i get that
I was just suggesting another way to do it that doesnt require decompiling or distributing asobo's work
they have gone to great lengths to allow us to modify this game (2024 in particular) and have been very understanding in our 'workarounds' imo

There is no way to delete the parking without deleting all the taxiways? So I have to rebuild them all back to the original state? That seems like a lot of extra work.............

If you have storage room for MSFS2020, and you wish to change more than one airport, you might consider re-installing 2020. I'm a bit short on HD space, so I'm thinking of adding an external HD (TEMU has a 4TB USB 3 external drive for about $33 including shipping, I'll order one and see if it arrives and works. I'll let you know).

I just reinstalled MS2020 again and I'm back to my old system of working . Still like ADE for all the simple stuff. Thank you all for your input and suggestions. PEACE................

The only thing that I can tell you about this is if one opens an ADE alpha project in MSFS 2020 developer.mode, those orphan parkings will display an error message and one cannot create a package until they are connected to the taxiway network.
