• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,

I've been working on a new airport for SLLP in GMAX, at this moment I did this:

Of course, one detail that I wasn't possible to achieve are the skids. It took me about a couple of hours trying and error but still no luck. For example, looking in Google Maps, the skids looks like this:

So this is where I need advice, how can I create a good transition from something grey to black like the image? How you guys do your skids?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Walter

Hello Liam,

Thanks, actually is complicated, unfortunately there is no good source to work for SLLP, Google is the best option available but if you see it at Google Maps, the image is distorted and blurry, so I have to watch some videos at Youtube, trying to find images, every source is really appreciated

Thank you Liam, the quality is really good, I've been using FS earth tiles and Sbuilder to get some imagery. Do you know if I can use this imagery in my scenery?

I believe so, I used Ortho4XP to generate the tiles and nothing in the license seems to prohibit their use / distribution as long as Ortho4XP is credited but I am no expert.

looking at a range of real world thresholds and other tire wear it might be easier to create a PNG file with transparent background, add in black streaking to represent contact wear and then use scatter brushes to added effect with blurring masked in (i.e. photoshop/gimp) that way you can create a master for the thresholds you need, mess with visibility on the ground and have some cross lined skids on the taxiways etc. I will look if time allows perhaps to make something that can be used like that. But youll not get perfection without some big input on these wear areas unless you use a paid png like off the internet

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, actually I thought the same, actually after some practice I could do the skids, the good part is that I can use in future projects. :)
