• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SkyForge – Expanding the Virtual Aviation Experience

SkyForge is a personal project focused on developing tools that enhance virtual aviation by improving automation, efficiency, and user experience. Currently, I am the sole developer working on the project, but I am looking to expand and collaborate with others who share an interest in aviation technology, software development, and community management. The goal is to create a platform that brings innovative tools to virtual pilots, air traffic controllers, and flight simulation enthusiasts.

Current Development: RunwayLink (for IVAO)

The main project under development is RunwayLink, a tool designed to assist with airport gate assignments by:

  • Fetching real-time flight plan and route data.
  • Dynamically assigning gates based on aircraft type and airport information.
  • Retrieving and processing gate layouts from OpenStreetMap and Google Earth.
  • Enhancing airport ground-handling efficiency for virtual aviation networks.
RunwayLink is already deployed for tests and working but I will integrate many more things on it, but I am working also on other products for SkyForge and I am by myself with everything haha.

Looking for Contributors

To make SkyForge a more complete and efficient platform, I am looking for people interested in contributing in different areas, such as:

  • Software Development (Frontend, Backend, C++, Qt...)
  • UI/UX Design (Improving visuals, animations, and usability)
  • Community Management (Engaging users, gathering feedback, organizing discussions)
  • Aviation Enthusiasts (Providing ideas and testing features to enhance usability)

Why Join the Project?

  • Work on an aviation-focused tech project.
  • Contribute to useful tools that improve the virtual flight experience.
  • Gain experience in software development, aviation tech, and UI/UX.
  • Collaborate with like-minded individuals passionate about flight simulation.

How to Get Involved

If you’re interested in contributing or just want to learn more, feel free to reach out.

SkyForge is in its early stages, but with the right people, it can grow into a valuable platform for the flight simulation community. If you're interested, let's build something great together.
