• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Looking for some good grass

I suppose there's no such thing as samples of what the various grass in MSFS (default) looks like so as to blend the grass in. Here's what my grass looks like and what the asobo looks like..so I can get it to look better and not an aweful color and the edge standing out..make sense?

Thanks,
BobM.

Yours is the grass on the runway?!? If there is an issue that you have to match default grass, that will be in your final build, why not use default grass exclusively? It’s easy enough to invoke..

The pic below is the before.

Mine is the ugly stuff behind the 727..I am using ADE...I think I used the apron tool with GRASS as the selection..Is that right. I was attempting to cover up some old vehicle taxiways in the scenery?

Thanks =rk=

Ok. When you use ADE, is it able to work in conjunction with MSFS, allowing you to make changes “on the fly” and see their effect in the sim?

Because I set all my ground polygons using dev mode while at the airport I am building in MSFS. Setting points for ground polygons this way, the sensation is analogous to pushing a golf tee in. Precision is an understatement, one can literally choose which side of a blade of grass, to set a point.

This leads into placing grass, which is analogous to using Mother Natures paint brush. It really is astounding, imo, the first time you try. Trees taller, mouse up, trees smaller, mouse down, kind of thing. The point being that guesswork is largely removed, you can see the relative colors, positions, elevations, you don’t just have to imagine them in your minds eye.

For MSFS airports, I use ADE, to create everything that would appear on an airport chart. Runways, parking, aprons, etc.

Nothing is textured, because I always use satellite imagery. That gets compiled to my community folder and the polygons I make, I add to my object library based scenery project, for the same location.

Might be something to explore.

You know your thread title suggest you should be asking Cheech and Chong.
LOL...I think they are currently unavailable.......You might be dating yourself.. Yeah...I think the DevMode is really not user friendly. imho.. I kinda wish there was a way to see the different grass..what they look like and maybe I could pick one that is close or on the mark...Is there a way to blend the edge in or just grass the whole airport at one time?

Thanks =rk=
If you get time check out this link;
the terry Fox segment is fascinating

!!!

Greets,

The grass that is the default for an airport..is there an asobos name for that texture in the selection..say using a scenic poly or no? Just curious..trying to get all the grass to match. See the pic above.

Thanks,
BobM.
