• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Marine Ferry model requested (paid project)

Hello all,

I am looking to recruit an experienced modeller to build a somewhat complex marine ferry to be used as a pilotable addon in FSX.

I have spent the last 2 years attempting to do this on my own with Gmax and FSDesign Studio, but have run out of patience required to complete the model, give it the desired animations and texturing.

I am willing to pay upto $400 for someone to create this model for me, and in a way that will be appropriate for FSX in terms of poly-counts.

The ship to be modelled can be seen on the web at: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-class_ferry

I do have deck plans, countless referrence photos as well as all size/dimensions that will be all zipped together and provided to the interested modeller.

Animations desired would be rotating/working radar, opening and closing bow and stern doors, and possibly lowering/lifting lifeboats (optional). In addition, I would like a horn sound applied to a key command as well.

Anyone interested in taking this project on, please contact me. Please include a sample of your previous modelling work as well.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Folks

SP -
There's a V-Class ferry available over at TurboSquid.

Textured to be 'Queen of Vancouver',
I'd query pricing's decimal point placement. :duck:

Yes, I had already purchased that model and found it to be inaccurate and rather poor quality. The poly count seems to be too high for FSX to handle, and does not have the required animations. The superstructure for the wheelhouse/bridge is quite different from reality, and that is one of the most important sections of the model.

I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope on this one. It's a pretty specialized request and it will take a good modeller as long to do a good FS version as it took Burrard's to build the original.
That said, if anyone is interested, I will match your financial offer.
What can I say... My first love was a white ship with pastel blue trim. :o

Actually the poly count is rather LOW for FSX, I have drivable models in FSX that are 70 k worth of polys. Best of luck though, hope it works out.

so there is $800 on the table for this?

Well my offer stands as it is. But please review the TurboSquid model and be prepared to surpass the quality and accuracy of that model. The interior of the bridge is the only interior modelling requested- for a Virtual Cockpit. The TurboSquid model does not have lifeboats, but I would like them To be included.

The TurboSquid model was actually requested by myself and I had paid $250 for it to be done. Needless to say, as much as I appreciated the model being done, the end result was not up to my standards. As such, I have increased my budget to $400 to hopefully yield a better product.

So if I am reading these posts correctly, then there is potentially $800 on the table for this model to be done- but at a higher standard of the TurboSquid model.
