• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MCX converted texture files - where to locate them?

Hi,
I have used the MCX to convert a legacy aircraft from P3d/FSX model to MSFS format and the aircraft is appearing and performing great- however the textures in cp for gauges and instruments do not occur at all. MCX create a folder named "legacy-vcockpits-instruments" next to the converted aircraft folder (which goes into the community folder). I assume that the mentioned folder shall be placed in the aircraft folder as it contains layout/manifest JSON files + a html_ui folder which beyond this hierarki of folders contain the instruments textures ( png fomat): "legacy-vcockpits-instruments\html_ui\Pages\VLivery\liveries\Legacy\saab_35j_51_panel"

1) shall the textures be converted further in some way i.e. to dds?
2) how shall such folder/s be mapped to show up properly?

Great thanks in advance for any help that take this further

Hi Ake,

MCX does nothing to convert VC gauges and it does also not create the folder that you mention. The VC textures are generated by the gauges in FSX/P3D. All MCX does is store the VC texture name in the model, I don't know needs to be done to put some gauges on that again in MSFS.

OK, I think I understand how you mean- the converter cannot and will not take care of the needs when it comes to the textures. A separate program is needed for that, but which?

MCX can save normal textures, but the gauges in a virtual cockpit are basically small computer programs that generate how the instruments should look. But converting those is outside of the scope of MCX.
