• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Melbourne Intl X- Work In Progress

Hey everyone!

This is my first "solo" international airport that I'm working on! (I am working on Raleigh Durham Intl with jonmkj.) Early stages of the project. I think this is no doubt the most intricate modeling I have had to do thus far. The jetways are positioned correct, just gmax sometimes does weird things with images at an angle! I hope you like it! :D

Good looking, but i think I will stick to the ORBX one. You'll be up to stiff competition because the ORBX one is great! and highly popular too!

Wrong Melbourne :P

Michael is working on KMLB, Melbourne International in Florida :D

loking good!
A little Tip:
Right click over Perspective (the white letters) and click on "Texture Correction"... That fixes the texture when looking from different angles...

THANKS! Gah! That problem has bugged me ever since I've been modeling in Gmax! Finally! Thanks alot! :D

Yes, it's been a while since I've updated, but there's a lot more I've added to it! I have my photo-real ground working and thought I'd give a screenshot. I still have about 10 or so more buildings to model and a few more "odds and ends" and then it will be finished! Enjoy! :D

Lookin good! I'll be looking forward to this scenery! And please, do NOT make animated jetways.

HA! I like how you just came right out and said that. I hear people begging developers tot make animated jetways all the time, but I won't put them in my scenery either... but just curious, why do you have an aversion to animated jetways?

I think animated jetway is a frame rate eater. Since it will animated both user and AI. You can imagine how it is going to be it 30 jetways animated at the same time.
Let AES does the job, much better than default.

True, but there isn't any guarantee that it will be made AES compatible. Only the AES developer knows what he will work on.

I don't want to sound like I'm totally spaced out from the rest of the FS Developing world but:

1. I don't have the knowledge nor the skills to know how to animate the jetways.

2. I don't really know much at all about AES. So for the moment, the scenery will be released without AES support. Later on down the road, the scenery may have support once I have learned more and am able to work with coding, etc.

Well as stated, animated jetways are framerate eaters and then I have to have exit codes in all my planes to have the jetways match up to the doors. I'd rather have static jetways with a bit of error.:)

Yea! So my jetways are static and have been positioned so that when an aircraft (i.e. 737) pulls into the gate it should be right around the door. It may not be exact, but when looking at it from a distance it will look accurate. ;)

Good to know!:D:D

Just a quick update-

Since my last post I have:
1. added more buildings/hangars
2. added a nightmap to the ground
3. added hash-marks to the side of runway 9R
4. repositioned the terminal and parking spots
5. added glideslope to 9R

Left to do:
1. build the FBO and hotel
2. build rental car buildings
3. fuel tanks
4. photoground "touch-ups"

Enjoy!

On approach to runway 9R (the hashmarks are actually color-matched with the default blastpad marking color)
