• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Military AI in P3Dv4

I just validated that today... So far no helicopters have been converted.

What is used in the video in P3Dv4 is the model from John Young who as a rule of thumb has made all his aircraft in both FS9 and FSX flavour (the two exceptions being the Osprey and the ShinMaywa US-2).

Missing the F-18's D, E, F and G though. But glad some more people are interested in doing some non-LM aircraft.

Oh, maybe we get a Christmas with Easter together LOL.... But take your time! Few weeks ago I never thought about any chance to get ever back our beloved military AI aircraft. I am really curious about the next weeks....

Henry's Hercs were converted by AIG, I guess. And I did the 228 myself.

But any of the rest?

Rysiek's C-17 are done, as are Jake's P-3. The F-4s are being converted currently, but using the updated model from Mike. Miljan's C-27 are in the work queue, as are Nick's Typhoons. Mike's F-104 are in the general queue but not taken yet.

Amazing shoots given that it is "simple" AI planes. The sim has taken a great leap forward.

The last weeks were a period of learning & doing, learning how to do things better and re-do things. Here you see Henk's conversion of Mike's B-52, Nick's Harrier and Menno's SR-71 and XB-70.

Plus Tony's conversion of Pascal's C-5 which has made a visit to Belgium and is taking off Brussels on her way back home.

Packages will start to become available these days at MAIW.

Do the updated packages also include converted AFCADs/sceneries and flight plans?

No, Bjoern.

The AFCADS and sceneries are converted in a different work stream.

Another change affects traffic. Originally we compiled all traffic related to a converted aircraft into one "mega-pack". With John's release of the F-35 we realized that having the mega-packs make it very complicated to make changes to the traffic on a base. Where today only F-35 are supposed to be everything was overcrowded with F-16s.

We changed concept then. The aircraft packages we will release don't include any traffic but only the aircraft models and all paints.

Traffic is broken down into pieces and made available for FS9 and FSX/P3D in a way so that users can choose what to have in their sim: modern traffic, retro traffic or a mix.

Will these come with the autoinstallers?
Are the MDL files shared separately in the forums as well?

I can answer for the conversion packs. These are zipped files with folders that need to be manually moved into the sim. A manual explains what to do.

The files will be made available in the download center.

The traffic files will come in both text and compiled BGL format and will be initially also only available for manual installation... at least to the best of my knowledge.

When you say MDL files... Do you mean the aircraft models? These will not be made separately available in the forum. Only in the packages in the download center.

From mobile hence short

Manual installation is just fine for me.
I don't like autoinstallers since you'll always have to extract other stuff that you just don't need.

Yes, MDLs only. But since, as you say, the packages will be regular .zip files, I can simply only extract the models from them.

All textures are converted to DDS, so advisable to replace although not strictly necessary.

Some models come with revised effects, air files and - for P3d - with scripts.

All my AI aircraft textures are DDS anyway to keep things uniform.
