• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

i do the exact same thing when following the tutorial. he says mirror it on the x axis so i did this but i get a stupid result? hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Blake

*** DO NOT USE THE MIRROR TOOL!!! ***

Trust me, it's best to forget that the Mirror Tool even exists, because it absolutely will not work correctly for FS9 or FSX development...

...and there's no point in developing a "bad habit" this early in your education... :)

Instead, go to the right subpanel and Add a "Mirror Modifier" to the object's stack. Other than that, the rest is pretty much the same, so it shouldn't interfere with your tutorial at all.

where do i find the top right sub panel?

Blake

You need to turn it on...

Customize/Show UI/Show Command Panel

This allows you access to the command "stack" for any selected object. Ninety percent of what you will do requires this access.

its already checked off, so where is this tool you told me to use so i can get this to work instead of it messing up with the mirror tool?

By "checked off" do you mean you SEE a check mark, or you don't SEE a check mark. This simpe english statement is really ambiguous...

If it is properly turned on, you should SEE a new subwindow appear on the right side of the Max Viewport.

Keep in mind I use Max9:

After the clone/copy/mirror is complete, you have to convert the object to e-poly.

Then you Select the first object, and Attach it to the cloned object.

Then, go to the Vertex sublevel, select all common vertices and Weld them.

im going to give up on this one, when i convert the object to editable poly its finde but its just when i come out of the front view and go to realistic view it looks as though a car has smashed into it. heres a screenshot of what it looks like:
