• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Missing Aircraft Check Change Request

Hello again, Don

I had the idea for another little change that might improve the workflow of checkingt that all aircraft for the existing flight plans are available. This is show I do it:

1. Start AIFP
2. Select 'Bulk Traffic' --> 'List missing aircraft used in traffic files'
3. Point towards the folder with the traffic files in question and 'use selected'

--> here comes... AIFP first scans for the installed aircraft and presents the list of missing aircraft....

4. I add the missing aircraft and re-scan using above stpes with the expectation to see the added aircraft go away from the list, which does not happen: the aircraft are still listed as missing. I suspect this is because the step 'scanning for installed aircraft' is executed only once from AIFP.

As soon as I exit AIFP and start all over the aircraft are now found.

Can you implement that the scan for existing aircraft happens every time before you scan for missing aircraft? (That is if my interpretation of what is happening is correct)

Hi, Martin. What is the state of the option Maintain Installed A/C List(s) on your Main Panel. If it's not checked, please check it and try again. I expect you'll experience the desired operation (if I understand exactly what you are reporting).

The scan for missing aircraft is quite simple:
  • load the traffic file
  • extract the aircraft titles
  • check each title against those in the installed aircraft list (which is created at startup)
  • report if missing
It's not clear to me how another pre-scan of installed aircraft accomplishes anything different.

I suspect what's happening in your case is that the newly-installed aircraft are not yet registered as installed (in AIFP's Installed Aircraft List). If you don't have the option checked, the new aircraft won't be recognized until you restart AIFP.

Don

Hi Don,

the option Maintain Installed A/C List(s) is checked.

But the aircraft are still shopwn as missing after I have installed them. They are only registered as installed after I restart AIFP (or click on 'Regenerate installed AC list' - that works as well).

Are you installing the aircraft manually or using AIFPs install facility?

If the former, AIFP has no way of knowing you have done so. Execute Aircraft / Regenerate Installed Aircraft List after installing the aircraft to alert AIFP that there are new aircraft.

Don

Manually, Don.

Wouldn't it be an option to automatically regenerate the list before the scan is done?

That's what the Aircraft / Regenerate ... does.

I don't think you want it done automatically since it takes a noticeable amount of time to complete and would, by necessity, happen on each execution of the Bulk Traffic function.

It's only one mouse-click, Martin.;)
