• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Mixing annotator files with scenproc files?

Hi,
This may be a covered topic somewhere already, but is there a way to mix .agn files created by annotator with files made by scenproc?
if so, would they overwrite parts of each other?
Thanks!

Hi,

In scenProc there is an ImportAGN step that allows you to import existing AGN file, so you can add new features to them.

Also, note there's no difference in agn file output, whether from Annotator or scenproc. You can edit scenproc produced (or any agn) files in Annotator if you want to produce finer details etc.

Hi,
Thanks Arno and iangbusa,
That was more the question i had, to be able to use annotator to add files to agn after running scenproc, where scenproc does an awesome job, it sometimes just doesn't have the data. i just wanted to be able to add more to certain places.

THANKS!

One question related to this... this is my first time using the detect veg feature.

I have run a detection process for trees, using a file from a scenery im working on.
saved the config file for the detection process
...is it possible to run the cfg file on the scenery tiles (.bmp) to get a tighter detection for the vegitation, and then import the previous agn and add the newly made extra veg polys to the "already made" agn files?
so that would mean making a new shape file first from the .bmps detection process and then adding that shapefile and a import agn file together so the output would be all one set of agn files?
also...mabey should be the first question....can the shapefile be made with .bmp files or does it have to have encoded coordinates, such as a geotiff?

EDIT: to clarify things...when you bring in the test file, and make a config for the detection, when running scenProc to make the shapefile..is it only going to work on that one file? or can the detection process be used for all the tiles for the scenery area...and do they have to be run 1 single tile at a time?

i may somewhat confused on this.;)
Thanks for reading.

Hi,

The editor is just to make the configuration using some test images. In the DetectFeatures step that configuration is run on any raster you select there.
