• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Mobile Scenery Object

Anyone,

I have a program to add LivingWorld Scenery to FSX (LivingWorld v1.1). I am trying to update so that Libary Objects will appear and move. However I am unable to add Library Objects AND have then move through waypoints. I can use SimConnect to create AI SimObjects like whales and elephants but not grizzlies or eagles and establish waypoints for them to move.

Any FSX Beta testers out there that confirm that the Living world "feature" using MSO outside of mission files does not work. Or let me know how to do it.

Yes, I can create a BGL, but they only appear and do not move from point to point - they mark time.

See the propdefs directory in FSX and the proplivingworld.xml - I figure I should be able to "update" LWcfg.spb file using MSOs.

For anyone wanting to add library objects and have them move you need to use mission files Object placement and waypoints. I can get grizzlies to appear and move around in a circle using a "fake" mission. But with mission files you can't use - change aircraft, Map, Time - Seasons etc. menu items You are forced to create a FLT file and make mods to it to change these attributes.

I tried this but without success. Maybe there is a special trick, like compiling to another file or a configuration directive, but most "living world" features are still mystery
Like you said, there is probably no way to get living animals outside missions/add-ons with the actual release of the simulator.
I managed to do some funny things with boats (using both AI and LW subsystems) but this is not so controllable and definitively restricted to water areas.
