• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hey guys, I've an issue on how to model small part of roof of my work in progress airport. as you can see I want to make a line as shown in red marking in the pic provided so that i can extrude that particular part of the building (shown in picture). Anyone in here are more experience about this?

Hi Tejal Bernardo, Can u show an example to me? I know the cut function but I'm confuse about the shapes I need especially the curve part.
Thanks.

Maybe show the guys a photo of the actual roof at that airport so they can better understand what you need.

I imitated part of your shape to show newly cut edges. I made my shape with a number of chamfers to imitate the complexity of your shape. In edge mode, you use the cut tool to create new edges from existing edges. See two options for initiating the cut tool. Once you make the new edges, you can extrude the newly created polys.

Hi,

1. Add Edit Mesh/Edit Poly to the stack, if needed.
2. Go to Polygon sub-mode.
3. Select all of the polygons of the "front" and "top" (i.e. the surfaces you want to cut) - do not select the ends.
4. Now Extrude these polygons, until the extra polys are the correct depth.
5. Make any small changes in Vertex sub-mode if the resulting shape is not perfect.
6. Resize the object back to its original size (if necessary).

If step 4 causes the object to become malformed, use Undo, and use the Reset Transform and Reset Scaled buttons on the Hierarchy tab (white boxes connected together). Then repeat step 4.

Hope this helps,
