• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I hope I'm not repeating a question, I looked but couldn't find anything.

I've followed the procedure in the documentation to add a custom model to a scenery project. But when I go to the field, there is nothing there. Any suggestions as to what the issue might be?

Bit difficult without some more information. I assume you mean that you built the project but the custom model is not displayed in sim. In this case please create a backup of the project using Project > Backup. The backup zip will be in the root folder you specified for projects. Attach it to a post here but if it is too big to upload then email it to me jon AT scruffyduck DOT org referring to this thread in the email

Thanks, I'm sorry I didn't provide much info, it was late and I was in a rush. I have several projects where I'd like to add custom models, so if I could figure out the way to get it going, that would help for everything I'm doing. i have attached the backup.

The immediate issue is that there are no custom models associated with this project. The relevant modelLib folder is empty

Section 16 of the pdf notes covers how to add custom glTF models and then use them in the project

Okay, I get it now. I thought models were placed one level higher. When I moved it to that folder and redid it in ADE, it shows now. Thanks for the clarification!

Move the Terminal Folder into the first folder with ModelLib in the name

Yep, did that already.

Now where do textures go? Do I make a sub under the model? Do they go in the same folder as the model? Do I put them in the texture folder at the ModelLib level? I've tried different places and it still generates an error for each texture when compiling.

As per the notes:

So put all textures in one texture folder at the same level as the model folders

No but I suspect that it needs something other than bmps. The ones I have seen are pngs
