• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Moving my scenery objects east

Does anyone know of any tools that can help me geolocate my buildings slightly east about 100m?

Basically the default Brisbane region in FSX is off to the east by about 100m. My scenery is all properly geolocated for the real world location which works fine with other properly located scenery packages (i.e. the CBD of the city is between two river banks), however I need to be able to shift all of my buildings about 100m eastward so buildings aren't floating in the river under FSX default scenery.

Does anyone know of a tool that can calculate a shift in lat/lon data easily? I'll need to run some software over my XML placement files to do the calculation anyway. It'd be so nice though if there were a tool for FS that can allow you to loop select a bunch of buildings and move them.

Sorry for a silly question, been a few years since I've done any FS work and not sure what tools are available now.

Modelconverterx can do it for one building at the time. When you move the object, the placement coordinates get updated.

If I would add a batch move it might do what you want.

That would probably be the ticket Arno. All objects have been placed via Model Converter X.

Each building is in its own bgl file as well.

I had thought FSX' terrain was placed fairly well. You could make new terrain, and leave the buildings as they are...

( Welcome back ).

Hey Dick,

Problem is all the CVX files are also out, would mean rebuilding all of australia :( Which I could eventually do with OSM but that's a bit more than I want to bite off right now... ;)

Good to be back. :)

Cheers,
Deano.

Dick, it's been a while since I looked at this but it has been on my mind. What happened with the Australia 90m DEM was that it appears it used Pixel is centre rather than pixel is corner, leading to a 45m offset. Apparently this also carried over to the Brisbane River in the default FSX scenery. Hence the need to shift things for non FTX users. The only other choice is building custom vector scenery for the whole LOD area covering the downtown area and beyond. :(
