• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS GUI

Hello,

My question sounds crazy perhaps but how easy or difficult you think one can personalize MSFS graphic user interface considering that it is HTML basically?

I was wondering if I can make it minimalistic for my personal use and reduce the XBOX oriented look and feel and usability..

There is a Mod for the GUI that shuffles things around but it does not make it a lot different.

If I could, I would make the whole GUI like the Dev Mode menus :)

Just wondering...

Thanks!

Theoretically it should be possible.

Most of the graphics and code is stored in the html_ui folder in the base sim installation.

I presume you can make an add-on that goes into the Community folder and uses the virtual filesystem to override the default files.

For example, here is the Arrows_buttonLEFT.svg file in html_ui/icons:

Code:
<svg id="Arrows_buttonLEFT" data-name="Background Icones - copie 3" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 29 29">
  <title>Arrows_buttonLEFT</title>
  <polygon class="cls-2" points="18.52 6.92 18.52 11.1 14.2 14.5 18.52 17.9 18.52 22.07 8.89 14.5 18.52 6.92"/>
</svg>

But there are a lot of files there. I wouldn't want to be the one redoing all of them.

Thanks for the feedback. I explored a little bit , however I think everything must be done in a trial and error mode to preview the changes in the community folder. I agree a lot to change
