• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all.
What I would like to be able to do is re-produce a small airstrip near my home,It as a short runway just 600meters with a narrow grass strip along side.It is used by the local microlight club.My ambition is to place this little airstrip in FSX to lay on top of the VFR scenery when Just flight releases it for my area,Will this be possible for this 65year old novice to do.If you think it is what is the first learning step I should take.
Thank you for reading my post.
Regards.
Rex.

Hi Rex and welcome. I think it should be well within your capabilities :)

I notice you live in the South West UK - whereabouts? I am in Wiltshire

My home is in somerset near Glastonbury.
What would you recomend I do to start as I am a real novice at this.I have no problem building a pc but the memory is on the wane, when it comes to trying to understand code.

hi rex - I'm pretty new at this stuff too but im getting the hang of things. I just want to let you know that it took me a while just to succefuly create a gmax object and place it in game. but once you do it nothing can stop you. First step would be to follow the SDK - for what ever you want to do. It can be confusing at times but thats why this site exists:) . I say go for it - just make sure you got some time on your hands because creating a whole airport is going to take along time- expecially if your new.

There are still not many tools for FSX. Most stuff created by tools for FS9 will work in FSX but you cannot take advantage of new features of FSX Scenery. For your needs FS9 scenery might be enough.

I use Sbuilder and AFCAD2 for FS9. There are some tutorials on my site on how to get started creating scenery. They might be a start point at least to look at for ideas of what can be done.

Let´s try

Hi, Rex

I observed you gave a pause in your plans to learn how to make a scenery.

Really, It´s not so easy, but not difficult, too. For the most issues or problems there are allways people ready to help, besides a hundred of tutorials to begginers and expertises.

I suggest you to take a look in the website whose address is below and read some tutorials to define the easiest way to start creating your own sceneries.

As people say, the only danger is to become addicted to.

Best regards,

José
