• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

NAS Fallon, NV work in progress. With the help of Arno's Model Converter X, I was able to put the Hi Rez Control tower interior into my KNFL control tower. I reduced the texture size to avoid Framerate problems down the line.

Wow Jim, looks awesome! If you're following, I'm working on a similar project to create a custom tower interior for use in multiplayer. That is nice... looking forward to release!

This is the Microsoft standard high rez object from the Sim Objects/ misc folder. I did not make it. I just figured out how to use it in the tower. Heavens, I wish I were that good...LOL.

Ok...so how can it be used? Can it be used/placed/accessed with Instant Scenery?

@ Greg,

I extracted it with the model converter. Then I imported it into GMAX then removed what I didn't want, then merged it with my tower.

Any time after you save a model converter file, it's ready to make into a .mdl. and save into an object library.

When you do Fallon, it's almost mandatory that you do the bombing ranges as well...

Thats some nice work.... alot of detail. very smooth shapes, which combined with the tower, be sure not to kill fps with the smooth details.. it would be a shame to limit your excellent (and im sure many hours of) work to just higher end systems due to the extreme poly and vertex counts of the fine details...

Looks wonderful, though... Im only being critical because even the crappy junk I make with its low poly counts bogs even my system, so I cringe when I see nice detailed work such as yours :)

I like your attention to detail though... It looks really nice...

The tower alone is seven draw calls. The rest of the base I expect to be around 35 total, all less than 130K per call. I'll be out at Fallon for the airshow in September and intend to reduce the drawcalls even further. The Target Complexes are mostly cvx (land class) and a single texture sheet for all the AA Missiles, hangars, buildings, etc. combined.

WOW! I am now officially giving up attempting to learn 3d design. LOL.. This looks amazing!!!!! I am now ashamed of using stock buildings and ones I found on the net... You create what I dream of for my airports.... GREAT job!!!
