• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Need Help With Lithunwrap

Hey everybody,

I am learning how to make planes for FSX and now I am at the point where I need to make a texture. I have read that Lithunwrap was good to use for making UV maps, so I downloaded it and tried it, but I didn't get much out of it. When I tried to import my .mdl as a skeleton (if that is even what you are supposed to do) and it gave me an error message. It says "there was an error reading the file"

I am very lost when it comes to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

But then again, maybe getting into Lithunwrap is getting ahead of myself. Is there a simple way to create a UV map from Gmax that I should use insteas of Lithunwrap?

You know, the next time you register somewhere you might want to consider a different "username..." :rotfl:

Using LithUnwrap with GMax is a two step process...

1. Select the object(s) in GMax for which you wish to generate a mesh template bitmap, and export as an .md3 file.

2. Start LithUnwrap, Load the .md3, then immediately Save/UV Map, select the size you need (1024x1024, 512x512, etc.), and the desired options, naming the bitmap as you desire.

Step #1 seems to be your immediate problem, because you evidently havent downloaded and installed the Quake (.md3) export module.
