• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX:SE New ADE User - Change Stock Airport

The stock FSX "SABA" airport (worlds shortest runway) has one big problem - it is closed to public traffic.
I would like to open my airport up and I see in the Object Editor it can be done but for two days I have tried everything and failed.

I also use the FlyTampa-Maarten payware which includes wonderful renditions of St.Maarten, St. Barths, and SABA

I have tried everything I can think of but getting nowhere - can someone offer some advise or at least point me in the right direction to get started?

Hello....

In the picture... it's showing "Markings"... try looking under the "primary" and "secondary" tabs, what's showing there?

Also, you will need to have starting points placed as well on each end of the runway, I believe... there needs to be a runway line as well...

Dane,

First off, if you are using the FlyTampa Product and it is active, then you won't see the stock SABA anyway. The installer adds the payware version to your scenery which "masks" the stock from displaying.

Otherwise, what gives you the impression it has "failed". Are you not able to see it in the list of airports you can start at? If it's because you cannot start a flight there, try adding parking and a runway start as Doug suggested for each end. Gotta have someplace to "start".

Are the AI Aircraft not using it? There probably are no approaches if the stock airport is closed in FSX. I have never looked...but I will.

Randy

Edit: I just looked at the stock SABA and you are absolutely correct. Primary and Secondary are both closed and there are no approaches listed in Approach Mode as a result of that. Have you looked on AVSIM or a similar site to see if someone has already done what you are attempting? And really, if you have FlyTampa then why in the first place. It opens the airport up and probably adds traffic if I recall correctly.

First of all I want to say a big thank you to both of you.

I opened the stock FSX SABA airport and added starts to both ends of Rwy12/30 and set up markings correctly, etc. Now the airport is open for business for my aircraft.

What prompted me to try to figure this out are two programs - Little NavMap and AivlaSoft EFB, both programs did not show runways, however Plan-G did (don't know why). And all of this was after FlyTampa was installed, so I can only assume FlyTampa used the same file as the stock FSX but I don't know that for sure?!

Anyway I now have an airport with a runway and it shows up in Little NavMap and AivlaSoft EFB, however another strange thing shows up in Little NavMap for the three airports from FlyTampa (St.Maarten, St. Barths, and SABA) - the map shows a mess of what appears to be AI ship traffic lanes which clutters the map terribly when zoomed in - I will contact FlyTampa about this.

Thanks again you two.

I forgot to add these two print screens to show you the mess of what seems to be AI Ship lanes with their respective "Gates" or docking areas.
This happens at all three of FlyTampa-Maarten airports - St. Maarten, St. Barths, SABA - does not occur anywhere else so it must be a Fly Tamp issue.

Last posting on this matter - but I thought I should let everyone know - for those who may have this issue as well.
I found the file that adds the mess of AI Ship Routes to FlyTampa-Maarten and I renamed it so it would not open, did not want to delete it just in case - still waiting to hear back from FlyTampa.

Here is the print screen...
