• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,

I am my name is Ben and I have just recently started making things fr MSFS 2004. I have been working on Leesburg Airport and several other facilities in the MD, DC, VA area, where I live.

Some of the other projects I've made some good headway with is the Goddard Space Flight Center, where I work. And also, as I am a pirate...... you've never heard of me?....... I have also made a really nice little pirate ship to denote some of my favorite Pirate crashes. Blackbeards shipwreck of the Queens Annes Revenge has been marked off Ocracoke in NC.

Anyone interested in some BGL files and Textures?

I will be continuing my creation and Design of LEESBURG/KJYO but I am going out there today to get pics of the FBO's and facilities. If you're interested, post me a rep and I uess I'll ost them on my S3 site for you guys to get to.

I have just created created George Washingtons house at Mt. Vernon.

I will post pics of Goddard Space Flight Center later.

Thanks

Oh, here's my pirate ship. Still layering texture up for this one. I want to put a pirate ship at every pirate ship battle or excavation. Working on other pirate ship types too. Kind of finishing light map for this one.

Mt Vernon (and everything else) looks great! I was in the DC Metro area with my family during Easter last year...I see you work at the Goddard Space Center in Greenbelt. We actually stayed at the Holiday Inn in Greenbelt:cool:

I believe so... There was a Denny's and a Safeway nearby. It was right off of the interstate.;)

Oh ok, so you guys were right there at the front gate then. Ya, that place is good times. Not exactly a nice neighborhood, but God bless NASA and all its goofy facilities.

The work looks excellent, even if you called Flight Simulator a "game". It's sooo much more than that. For some, it's a way of life.

I might ask/suggest that you consider making some of the objects available as libraries for use by other "not quite as talented" people. Those GA hangars look lovely and there can never be enough to choose from when placing objects at an airport. Your end-user agreement can detail what restrictions apply to any of your work.

As stated in previous post, I will make all of my silly and goofy library objects available to all for free. I need to find a way to get a web site up, (What was I doing during web design class in college again? )

Please remember, these are all models I only spend 2 or 3 hours on so I'm not loading up the textures with millions of layers. And I'm trying to keep the poly count extremely low.

If you would like to see some of my actual aircraft products you may find me here

http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/In...cessSmartSearch&istSearchKey=bgavares&x=0&y=0

These are for use in movies and other high end rendering, but this is how far i can take it. I intend to also re-create many of the guages and dials because I feel like developers never have a great selection of guages and dials. The models above are great ways to create said images.

If you ask me, I think George Washingtons house would be a great plantation to place if you have a rich person living nearby.

But, I've only been making scenery for about 2 weeks now, wait until you see a year from now, I'm just getting started.

So, how should I make a library?

Very nice looking 3d gauges. I am curious though...

...does anyone actually buy these things from Turbosquid? I shouldn't think there'd be that big of a market for most of what's for sale there...

Ya, I have made aircraft screws before and had people buy them.

I sell more aircraft equipment than anything else. But, ya people buy them at least once or twice a month.

I was wondering. I've seen a lot of stuff there and have been curious to know if it might be worth my time to put any of my "stuff" there...

Your "goofy" tri-hangar would be welcome at many a GA field. ;)

For creating a library for object placement you can utilize Arno's Library Creator, found down near the bottom of the forums. Or you can use the demo version of Flight 1's Instant Scenery, which comes with a tool named Library Maker.

A placement library BGL file differs from what you have been doing, in that it contains no Lat or Lon for the objects, just a callable GUID along with the MDL files. An object placement tool, such as Instant Scenery, reads the available GUIDs and after placing an object it then creates another BGL file. So placement libraries end up with two BGL files. One with the actual objects and another with all the location data.

Thank you for considering sharing your work with others.
