• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Like the title says, when exporting a model, be it FSX or P3D, it compresses the model, pieces are missing, moved. Downloaded as of 8:48am PST today. Last build from 1/25/24 did not have this issue. Photo attached.

Hi,

The photo seems to be missing. But I'll check, must be some of the changes recently made. Does it happen with any model or only some?

Ahh, apologies. Here is the photo of the exported model. It only seems to do it with just a few models, not all models. Not sure why.

Would you be able to provide me one of those models for testing? That would make debugging the issue easier.

I don't know if it's related, but I've noticed that the latest dev build (06/02/2024) is showing certain animated parts on some FSX/P3D MDLs at much larger scale than they should be.

I have made some changes to the scenegraph optimization, as that fixed issues with FS2004 to FSX conversion. I guess these changes cause these side effects. I got a model from @Delta620 already to test with. Hopefully that helps to find where the bug is.

Hi,

Thanks @Delta620 for the model. When I tried to export it I noticed XtoMDL gave a warning on export and also that the resulting MDL file could not be read by MCX again. This was indeed caused by a recent change I had made. I have fixed that now and I can export this model correctly again. Hopefully it also fixes the issues from @Merlin46. I''ll push a new development release soon with the fix.

Thanks for the file to debug this. I have been able to fix this issue now as well, so in the next development release it will be OK again.
