• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Dear Flightsim Developers, My name is Todd Schlappi aka PORTSIDE
I have been dedicated to flightsim for many years and learned alot along the way, Mostly pertaining to the aircraft aspect of flightsim. Now i would love to learn what i can about basic senery knowledge, Occasionally i will find a nice default airport with a strange anomaly or flaw and i would like to know how to fix or modify it to make it better. I only want to learn how to manipulate default items I don't plan on designing my own scenery, just fixing the problems with the default issues i run across. If anyone is willing to take on a student for a short time it would mean alot to me. Thank you to eveyone for keeping our hobby and passion alive. Todd:)

the long and winding road

which version of fs,there are differences between them..

if fsx/acc...or fsx with service packs 1 and 2....you could start with the sdk
instalation and the fs tools in game...build missions place default scenery, effects....this requires fsx de luxe...objects only exist in missions..

then discover how to place default objects outside of missions, either manually
or with simple tool...

then,or find tools to build airports,objects,aircraft...it is a lifetime of study, with a long climb up....the higher you go the better the view...it works best when you ask a specific question, so do some research into a specific area, that you wish to accomplish, and check out the sdk pdf...esp sdk pdf is almost identical...jim

Download "Airport Design Editor". It has it's own forum on this site. It will do all and more of what you need. And you should be up and running with some of it the first day. It will take longer for some things. However, doing things in FS isn't like other activities. Expect to have to learn to think a little differently.

Cool

Thanks guys, I will have a look and see if I can't learn a thing or two! One more thing, Does anyone here use Teamspeak for teaching or working out problems related to flightsim? I find sometimes going over things verbally takes the confusion out of the learning curve
