• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Nice project idea for some guru ...

What would be of great value to FSX is rebuilding pertinent '.bgl' files that contain airport and navigation data.

Well the data in FSX is from around April 2005 I believe and was from DAFIF.
It would be nice to have current compiled data. I am sure many many FSX users would pay for this too.

Maybe but I think that would result in the wholesale replacement of stock bgl files - is that what you have in mind - the creation of a set of replacement stock bgl files?

Jon, have we not been there just recently, LOL!

Me in trouble with lost approaches, and slowly understanding many people use the GPS and not payware addon navdata. The FS database needs to be updated for those users using default navdata, and those are if my memory serves, from 2005. But I guess this is something we cannot do anything with. This is a flaw in MSFS, and if it was up to me, I think Microsoft should be so kind to update those databases now and then. OK I make 18 Norwegian airports. But if (or when) someone suddenly asks me to fix the navdata as well, I am just going to pull back and start crying, in a very childish manner :D

Yes. I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done.

The "reason" is known as Copyright Infringment. No one has the legal right to alter and re-distribute copyrighted files from MS.

Legalities aside, it would be an enormous undertaking for anyone who doesn't have access to the tools MS/ACES used to create these files to begin with.

Maybe MS would give approval since the sim is basically dead.
