• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Hi lads,
I need a little bit of help,i just like to know in the gmax material editor which button i need to click on to add my nigth texture in the maps.
Is it the ambient colour mapping or the self-illumination mapping button.
as i have three irish scenery i want to finish off,so that i can redo eime baldonnel aerodome. any help would greatful lads.

That depends!

FS9 uses the Material Editor Ambient slot

FSX uses the FSX Material Editor Self-Illumination slot

Hi,

I found that for aircraft FS9 needs no _L.bmp night texture added to the material, as long as it is a _t.bmp type texture. Just make sure LightMaps is checked in the MakeMDL properties (I think it's Light Map and not Night Map...). Then just include the night texture in your aircraft's folder. For non _t.bmp textures I have been adding them to the Self Illumination slot and they appear just fine.

For scenery textures (_LM.bmp night maps), I add those to the Ambient slot, and they get added OK (even though Night Maps is not checked in the MakeMDL properties).

Hope this helps,
