FSXA Night Textures.

I have a rather strange issue going on with my night textures in a scenery project.

OK I will try to explain as best as I can.

First night on my Flight SimX with acceleration, it all looks fine.

Now this screen shot, Flight SimX sp1 and sp2 different computer, no night textures, in fact the hole model disappears. Wow I don't get this one.

I don't know if this help, but here is the gmax material Navigator image,

Any help would be appreciated.

If the night textures are misplaced (wrong folder), misnamed (wrong type or spelling), wrong format (not compressed) or just missing. -- then objects will disappear under SP2.

Otherwise there should not be any "engine" differences.

Sent from my mobile .. words substituted by iPhone at will.

..... which accounts for "format". (One down, 4 to go) Another "trick" might be to open the library with ModelconverterX, and see if the log view reports any missing files for the installation that is not working.

Some systematic troubleshooting will be required ... it is not going to be an FSX "bug" as such.

If it works properly under Acceleration, and you have a totally new model (ie not using any global texture names that might only be in Accel) then it will work in FSX SP2.

If it is not working in the SP2 installation, then the installations are not the same.

Look for _ instead of -, spaces in the filename .. other minor differences. I would almost bet it is a misspelt filename.

Check the compiled library with modelconverter and see what turns up.

Hi,

If I look in your screenshot I see on material with _lm in the name and one with -lm. That is no problem, as long as your DDS files have the same naming. But missing textures can cause the issues you see here.

If you are going to use the _LM convention, it's probably best to use _LM instead of -LM, since some people will assume it's misnamed and will change it, thus leading to the problem you posted.

Hope this helps,
