• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hey Don not a huge deal but a feature that I use occasionally that is not working in 3.4.3.14. FS9 user and when you try to look the repaint aircraft in the list and select View AC Image i get the error message as attached. Just for giggles 3.4.1.1 version works and will load the model and textures.. so I can still do it that way if it not fixable. FS9, Windows 10 64 bit.
Tried many differnet raw txt files and its not able to read any of them. When you hover over the aircraft it does show all the info (parking radius, parking codes etc etc).

Thanks Don, and hope you are able to kick whatever you have going on. Best wishes for you.

Hi, Greg. I am unable to duplicate. Is this a newly-installed aircraft? Does the error occur with other aircraft in other flight plans?

First, please re-install 3.4.3.14. and try again. If it still doesn't work, please post the aircraft folder. (Only one texture is needed, so feel free to delete the rest.

That did it!

Thanks a ton Don. Brilliant tool that continues to bridge so many platforms. Appreaciate the work

Greg

Spoke too soon maybe.. So it reads the 767's fine but others yet are either not displaying in the viewer or I got this message for the 737-800W and SW folders.

or this message.. Appears to coincide with the [fltsim] number in the cfg.

If I dont get an error message like above, the model viewer will open and not display the model at all. Just the blue background. It is not all aircraft folders but quite a few now as I just start selecting different ones to try out.

I'll investigate but, if the error is in the viewer software itself, there's not much I can do about it since that's third-party software

I don't have any difficulty having aircraft displayed in the viewer from FS9. Curiously, in your case, the system generates different error messages depending on which aircraft you are attempting to view. In an "invalid index" situation, I would expect them to be identical.

While you may be on to something with
Appears to coincide with the [fltsim] number in the cfg.
it's not meaningful to me since I don't have the traffic/flightplan files

Please post the specific file you are using and provide a little further explanation about the [fltsim.n] match

Greg, since Flightplans_AIG_AmazonPrimeAir_Su21 doesn't seem to be generally available, I really need you to send me a copy (e-mail if you wish) and to clarify your comment about the [fltsim.n] entry.

I am anxious to make a new general release so as to help others avoid the same issue that originally prompted you to start this thread.

In the absence of a response from you, I have managed to obtain a copy of the AmazonPrimeAir_Su21 flightplans as published by AIG. It is now clear that you are working with a modified copy with all the aircraft having been replaced.

As I said before, I cannot replicate your issue, The aircraft viewer works fine for me generally.

What I did notice, however, is the two aircraft with which you are having difficulty are, in fact, the same aircraft. I created that aircraft on my system as best I could from the available info, and opened the viewer. No issue.

Given that the viewer message "Reading .mdl file and textures" has been issued, the error is being generated by the third party software. While creating the aircraft for test, I noticed the need for a special .mdl file.

At this point I have no alternative but to conclude the issue lies with the specific aircraft data on your system. (Perhaps you've inadvertently used the FSX model?)

Should you wish to pursue the matter further, please provide me with a copy of the Flightplan/traffic file you are using and the entire aircraft folder for FAIB Boeing737-800SSW SCX sun....
