• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Since the us update i cannot build anything . i can install from the xml it seems to build of a fashion but when i build the bgl my model now does not show in the objects folder. Everything worked fine till the update. I have 3 computers 2 have the store version one has the steam version. All are doing the same thing. I have tried to build from blender 2.0 glift and from modelconverter all have the same result. I am starting to think it could be a windows problem or the 8 version of the sdk but the simple scenery files are the same. Anyone have an answers.

Did you check the XML under Package Definitions?

I noticed that there is a new bug that can sometimes remove some of your asset definitions in the XML file, also if you clicked clean that can sometimes cause XML issue too.

They made validation enforcement changes maybe, since they now have the option to "export the package" in the scenery editor instead of just building it and using the raw directory. I don't understand their reasoning in their approach anymore when it comes to the SDK, seems like adding more layers of complexity without addressing the simple issues. I had a "maybe similar" problem with an older version of the SDK. I literally could not even open any airport, or I would either get a CTD, a lockup, or it would just error in some other way. I wrestled with it for hours, to this day the fix makes no sense at all but I simply kept trying to open up very simple default almost BLANK XML projects and aiports, and finally it worked. Once it worked once, it kept working, so secret cache was my conclusion for my issue, but it can also just be the XML.

I solved it, it seems that the model has a little part of it which caused the problem.
Anyway yes, I agree, SDK updates sometimes are awkward

Thanks

I have managed to place models again. It is simple in the xml in root and the xml in package definitions to the format objectname-a-1 its that simple. It changed in sdk 8.
