No flatten polys in TS Pro?

Don,

I've been trying out TS Pro alphas for a week or so, and I've got a quick question. There doesn't seem to be a way to create flatten polys anymore. If I choose to add a new flatten, I get sculpt nodes instead, and seem to have to enter elevations for each one individually. They don't connect to one another on adding, so I'm assuming they're acting as free-floating sculpt nodes now. Is there or will there be a way to create flat areas as in the previous TS in this version, or am I just missing something?

Thanks for keeping at this, btw. It's a much needed tool!

thx,
Bill

Bill, what version of TS Pro are you using. The latest is 0.0.25, released just yesterday. I have no trouble creating flattens, but it does seem the user is required to enter an elevation for each node. I've recently done a lot of re-work in the way elevations are handled and I must have missed something. It will be fixed in the next release - sometime this weekend or maybe even later today.

Thanks for checking in,
Don

Hi Don,

I just grabbed yesterday's 0.0.25 build, but it's the same issue. When you start a flatten, the only choice after that is to add a new sculpt node and set the altitude for each. The nodes don't connect to show any sort of poly. I don't know how hard it would be to add, but could there perhaps be a "create flatten" mode you could enter in which you could just left-click a point to extend the flatten? It'd be a lot quicker than right-clicking a spot and choosing to add a node and then set alt for it. Just a thought.

thanks,
Bill

One more issue (it affected the original TS as well) - I run a two monitor setup, and for some reason when I move TS to my second monitor, I no longer see the cursor. I see the other window elements, but not the cursor. Very strange. Moving the application window back to my primary monitor restores the cursor immediately.

That's how it's supposed to be working now. While I can duplicate TS Pro asking for elevation at each point (I'm investigating that now) I am unable to duplicate being forced to enter sculpt nodes after starting a flatten.) Are you using the "hot cursor", which is enabled after you specify the first flatten node or ar you attempting to add nodes one-by-one with a right-click? (I do see that if you are using the one-by-one method, the prompt does incorrectly display "sculpt" rather than "flatten".) Let's leave this until I make another release.

I run a 2-monitor system, but I've never run TS pro on the second monitor. I've got TS Pro "torn apart" at the moment, so can't test But will do so shortly .

Bill, I'm looking at your issues. Other then the need to enter elevation at each stage, I think the problems you are experiencing are due to settings.

1) I suspect if you first select a node in the existing flatten (it turns red), I believe you'll get the correct prompt. ("sculpt" is the default if nothing is selected.
2) I suspect if you enable the "hot cursor" (second last item in the Options menu), you'll be able to enter additional nodes with a single click (once I fix the demand for elevation )

Please let me know if these two suggestion fail to correct the difficulties.

Hi, Bill. Regarding your missing cursor issue, I am unable to duplicate. As I said yesterday, I too run a 2-display system, but I can move TS Pro back and forth between them without issue. While TS Pro tells Windows the shape of the cursor, it is Windows that actually moves and draws the cursor.

I have attached a screenshot of my display properties in case it might help.

Hi, Bill. Regarding your missing cursor issue, I am unable to duplicate.
I've just shifted the Pro windows to my second monitor and can't duplicate the issue, too. As I'm used this possibility quite often in the standard (legacy) version, I only can say that I never observed this failure (many other issues instead... :duck:)

Hi,

I've got the same problem as Bill concerning creating a flatten and just being able to place sculpt nodes- any news? I'm using V0.1.02 (that's what is displayed in the program) on a Windows10 PC.
As I told in another thread I'm trying to overhaul a prebuilt custom flatten using Terrain Sculptor Pro and when I load that one there are polys correctly displayed. But I can't place additional ones because of the "sculpt issue".
By the way-I downloaded the current Version which should be V0.1.03 and replaced the old files as instructed, but the program itself keeps on displaying it's V0.1.02.
TS Pro recognized that I have downloaded the current version and told me to overwrite the old files, what I did.
After restarting TS Pro the message disappeared, but it's now still V0.1.02 which is displayed in the "about" window and title line.

Cheers, Arne

Hi Don,
it's been a while since I've had time to work on my current scenery, sorry for the latency.
So well... DR 0.1.04 works fine for me! All my issues are solved right now. Thanks very much Don.

Cheers
