• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

No Parking

I had the same problem as blacktiger in a thread from 3 months or so ago.

I downloaded a freeware scenery (FSX). This had no parking spots but it had a runway with starting positions. I copied the .cvx file to desktop and opened the airport from its scenery .bgl.

I made a few parking spots, a short taxiway, and a hold short node. No faults found. Following the advice given to blacktiger, I compiled a .bgl and saved the airport as an .ad3 file. Then I replaced the .cvx file from the desktop in the active scenery folder.

When I ran FSX the parking spots did not show. I've been at this game for a long, long time! I'm confused about this one. Surely it cannot be so complicated to add a few parking spots to an addon scenery?

Maybe I've missed something obvious. I'd be grateful for advice.

Did you remove the original Bgl file or leave it in place. If you left it in place does it load after your new mod. If so then it will undo your good work.

If you are a little rusty on loading priority then you might be interested in this: https://scruffyduck.clarify-it.com/d/9t7w7x

Thanks, Jon.

It's fixed. As usual with this sort of thing, there was more than one error.

First, as you suspected, I forgot to remove the original scenery bgl file. I also had the priorities wrong. For some reason (possibly FS9) I was under the impression that files in Addon Scenery automatically took priority over other scenery files. For that reason I thought, wrongly, that files in Addon Scenery would install in preference to default.

Obviously that is not the way FSX works. In future I will just add ADE bgl files to the addon and not to Addon Scenery/scenery as in the past with FS9.

One last thing, the short little apron link is concrete (context menu) and there seems no way to make it grass etc. Again, I must have missed something obvious.

Thanks for the link to the SAS - it will be very useful - on my desktop now.

Best wishes
