• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 No "Save As" option in Alpha20 HF2

I cannot see a "Save As" option under File menu to save the project to my choice location. Am I missing something?

Hi. You have no Save Project?
The file structure is dependent upon the naming and pathing when you first create the project. When you open and edit, subsequent saving of the project overwrite that project.
If you want to rename or change paths you would need to copy the project and rename as necessary and then open that project for editing.
Of course I could be wrong but this is how I make variations of my projects.

That's correct in that there is no explicit Save As. However you should set your master project folder (the root for your projects)

Settings > Options > Project Tab

You can copy whole projects from one location to another but currently can't rename them as such. As Philip points out there are a lot of paths involved and as an Alpha program the folder setup is fixed. Providing more flexibility in handling folders and naming is on the development list

Firstly, my question was not regarding renaming a project but to changing the path for saving the project. I am aware of the fact that I can go to Options and change the default path by going to "Settings>Options>Project" tab, but that would be needed everytime I create a new project and save it to an appropriately-named folder. The point I raised is that all previous versions of ADE used to have "Save As", so why remove it now? I understand that the current versions are development work but the "Save As" option has nothing to do with the development work. I think it would be great if this feature can be restored in the next version - this is just my opinion.

I am sorry but as the developer I should know whether or not the Save As function is tied up with the development work. I wonder what reason I might have for removing it otherwise?

Each project is already in its own folder and you can move entire projects from one parent folder to another if you desire a separate root for each.
