• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Trying to bring back Aurora Borealis effects from FS9 to FSX. What i'm able to do is make them appear at a particular location(long/lat) but i would like them to appear where aircraft is flying. So my question is how to make the effect follow the aircraft OR is it possible to specify the effect to entire latitude/longitude range, for instance the north and south pole region of the earth. Meanwhile I'll try to go through the forum.

I hope someone can add some thoughts as nobody elsewhere on the net has any clue whatsoever!

Hi Folks

wako1 -
Aurora Borealis/Australis is already implemented in FSX.

Make sure you're flying far enough North/South (> 60deg),
and looking in the direction where the sun went down.

Not sure what the exact conditions for display are in FSX.

IRL
The aurora borealis most often occurs from September to October and from March to April.

thanks for the reply Paul! I believe only the effect is there but its not functional as far as I know. Not a single person has been able to see them for past 2yrs! obviously its not there. I asked same question to Phil Taylor he had no answer to that. Regardless of what season and latitude I fly I donot see them unless you prove me wrong. I would be delighted :). I hope someone from development team comes forward to sort this out.
