Hello,

I have created some scenery objects in 3DS Max.
Now, I have exported them from .max to .obj, which I can open in modelvoncerter X, too. But how can I convert it to .bgl to use it in FSX?
Sorry for this stupid question, but there are so many development tools, I lost overview completly. Really to much for a beginner in dev.

Thanks for help.

best regards

You must convert it in MDL for fsx or Fs9 according your version of flight simulator, and create your own library object

Hi,

There is a gamepack for FSX for some versions of 3DS Max, so then you can export directly to FSX MDL objects. Which version of 3DS Max are you using?

Using ModelConverterX will also work. From ModelConverterX you can export as FSX MDL. You can then put this MDL in a library BGL and place it with an object placement tool.

Or if you just want to place one or two objects, you can also position them in ModelConverterX and export directly as a FSX BGL file.

Ah okay, thanks for answer.
I have converted it now to mdl, then I get an mdl and a .x file, probably as I want to use it in fsx.

@arno
At the moment I working with 3DS Max 2012 since a short time, prior I did use 2011.

For object placement I think FSX Planner is a good solution. Now I have to find out how to put my mdl file to a bgl library.
May the FSX SDK can help:)

But good answers, I am really glad about it and gratefully for more tips.

best regards

Hi,

Have a look at my Library Creator XML tool, it gives you a GUI to make a library BGL.

arno your tools are fantastic:)

After I have understood that I have to tell modelconverterx the path of xtomdl compiler, I get a correct mdl file.

And now I have converted it to a bgl via your bgl library tool.
Now I hope that I can place my objects in FSX:)

Thanks for help.
Really good support here.
