• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Object (mdl) placement preference?

Im making the switch to FSX scenery development... This may already be a no brainer, but I was wondering what you guys prefer to use for placing your 3D objects for bgl output. I used to use SceneryGenX to place models over a satellite background for reference... not perfect, but it worked....

Is everyone using ADE for this?

What do you guys prefer....???

I've settled on Whisplacer, I like to be able to see what I'm doing in FSX.
(I even like to see the AI coming and going when I'm placing fences...)

I got acostumed to OPT, now that I am placing my own Mdl, getting his guid then it's easy to work whit it, but to place any other objects it's very bad, not have thumbnail, I's the first tool with I begin to place object, and I wan't to have to learn any other tool, lazy indeed.

I use ADE. It is easy and perfect for me. You can put satellite photo and put the objects to their place. If you use photoscenery for FSX they will be exactly the same place.
I place almost 200 objects to the file and compile in one click into one bgl file.
One only drawback of ADE is you cannot place object in line. You have to place it individually.

I use Instant Scenery for library objects - done from within FS and very easy to use. I use ADE for MDL files inserted directly.

Hi,

I use WhisPlacer most of the time. Or if I would only be working on an airport I would use ADE.

Im setting things up in ADE, but I am cureous as to WhisPlacer... Ill check it out...

Anyone use SceneryGenX to place FSX models?
