• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

One Simple Timezone File

I seem to have an issue at MBPV, Providenciales. The time shows as UTC-4, when it should be UTC-5. It seems to be a narrow area, since MBNC, about 20 miles east shows correctly as UTC-5, and if I slew north, south or west about 20 miles give or take the local time again is correct. It is the same with or without any add on timezone files (FSX-DST, or, TzFiles04).

I have tried understanding the BGLComp sdk, but, it is not something I have ever done. I am anticipating an xml along the lines of:

<TimeZone
latitudeMinimum="N21.0"
latitudeMaximum="N23.0"
longitudeMinimum="W73.0"
longitudeMaximum="W72.0"
timedeviation="300"
priority="0"
daylightSavings="USA"
daylightSavingsTimeShift="60"
daylightSavingsStartDayOfYearBase="100"
daylightSavingsStartDayOfWeek="SUNDAY"
daylightSavingsEndDayOfYearBase="261"
daylightSavingsEndDayOfWeek="SUNDAY"/>

But, do not know what I should do to actually compile a file.

Any help or input appreciated.

Joe

There are 2 ways to compile your xml file with bglcomp.exe. The first is to drag + drop the xml onto bglcomp. The second is by using a dos command prompt and pointing bglcomp at your xml file. The first way is the easiest but if your file does not compile cleanly your only evidence of that will be no new file entitled 'yourxml'.bgl. By using the command prompt any error messages will be available for you to see onscreen.

P.S. You should also be aware that there is a specific xml schema that bglcomp works with called bglcomp.xsd. Your xml file would need to follow its' rules.
