• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

OPT - object won't move ? - Workaround

Hi Folks

Don't know if anyone's posted this already.

As many of us have experienced problems where
un unlocked object refuses to move with click-drag.

I'd noticed that on manually editing coords,
the object sometimes moved unexpectedly.

Just realised something related -
you can reposition the reluctant object
with the mouse without click-drag. ;-)

Using Top-Down mode.

Double click in the coords area
then just click the FS window location you require.

Object will jump then to that location.

Zoom in and repeat as required.

Thanks for that info, Paul. I use this feature a lot, have to admit that I used it from the beginning for I didn't know how to drag&drop at first. :D

But the problem remains that sometimes objects just won't move if you try it with drag&drop. This seems to be a bug, and although the described way is an alternative it's much more difficult to move an object to the exact position you want it to be. :(

Hi Folks

the described way is an alternative
it's much more difficult to move an object to the exact position you want it to be.

Thorsten -
I find it's reasonably exact. :D

I'd forgotten to include the key point
i.e. You must be working in Top-Down mode.

I've corrected my original post to reflect this.

Yes, another thin gthat took me weeks to figure - the ability to change views while working in the OPT. :o

I guess you're quite right - but I'd still like to know why the movement of objects is sometimes not possible. :(

I have been moving objects like this, but not in the top down view. I point the cross in the center of the screen to the location I want to move the object, double click on the coords, then click on the new location.

It is a bit quirky. I found this by the "try stuff till it works" method :)

Trying it like described twice above, my control tower still did not bulge but I did get a runtime error R 6025 about a call to a pure virtual function and FSX aborted. So, yes, there is a bug in the slew-OPT interaction.
