Yea, the more I tinker with P3D the more I see how simmers used to the MS Flightsim series through the years would miss this.
I've seen several innovative "front end" apps for FS9, some dealing with scenery, some with add-ons like panels, textures, aircraft, sounds, special settings like for the cfg. file, which in turn starts up FS9 just how the user likes it.
True, it could something quick & dirty or it could be a thought out interface where simmers could really have a nice graphical interface and take advantage of set-ups. Then again, a combo of both is possible (ala version 1.0, 2.0, etc). I'm leaning towards the nicer approach. Guess it all depends on what "quick & dirty" means, ha!
I didn't think there are any great mysteries that need to be solved in coding to create this as it appears to be so similar to FS9, but it still could/would take a good amount of time.
