• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v3 P3D: Photoscenery display.

My nicely colour-matched, high resolution photoscenery has turned from crisp and green to a light sandy colour blurry mess.

Even with 7cm texture on it looks blurry still. Anyone else have this issue with their photoscenery?

I Might have to make a separate version for P3d.

Hi Shaun,

I have heard about this problem several times by various developers. I also have the problem in Prepar3D v3 with my photoscenery,
which looks great in FSX - in P3D it's way too bright and washed out.
It turns out that this behavior is caused by "Tessellation". Try to deactivate it in the P3D settings. This is the downside of the extended shaders
which come with P3D. I would also NOT recommend to make seperate texture sets for P3D since you will lose your color-match to the surrounding
scenery which will also have the bright and washed-out effect. Furthermore it's simply not the "right" way to go since this is the way the engine
behaves - I hope for improved shaders along with Tessellation in future versions of P3D.

Another problem is the match of 3D objects to the photoscenery since those are being shaded differently. If you have a smooth transition in FSX to
groundpolygons or groundwork (trenches for example), the seem will become quite obvious in P3D. The solution for me was to cover the whole
airport with a groundpolygon so the 3D groundwork will blend in nicely but still, the groundpolygon will now be too dark in P3D compared to the photoscenery...

So far I haven't heard about a proper solution for this issue.

Yeah, the lights are too bright too with her on. With it off everything is like fsx. Its impossible to change textures for these different scenarios, guess ill just have to leave it. Shame the photosscenery looks so blurry.
