• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v2.1 apron lights

A big "thank you" to Bill Leaming, for the ramp lights package. I have tried (for a way too long time), to get my FS9 lights to work (a nice present from the Norway Airports guys), to no avail. Bill's ramp lights (with or without light poles), works wonderfully in FSX as well as P3D v2.1.

15 airports done, 15 to go.

Cheers,

Thank you, sir!

Here's my current "recipe":

1) Use the Ramplight library "as is".

2) Place your lights in FSX. I do it with Instant Scenery 3.

3) Decompile the placement bgl with BglAnalyze; the FSX decompiler.

4) Open the xml file with Notepad. For each light splash, add the line <NoCrash/> before the <LibraryObject entry.

5) Recompile with the Bglcompiler SDK.

Done!

Here an example of the xml for one light splash:

<SceneryObject
lat="N69 58.69085"
lon="E023 20.78068"
alt="0.0000M"
altitudeIsAgl="TRUE"
pitch="0.00"
bank="0.00"
heading="211.00"
imageComplexity="NORMAL">
<NoCrash/>
<LibraryObject
name="{7091D8BC-5B18-4F23-A37B-B66AC12D46DC}"
scale="1.00"/>
</SceneryObject>

Cheers,

What would "no crash" do for the RampLights?

PS: "No Fog" prevents the "white rectangle" effect in daytime low visibility.

Now that is truly useful to know! I've been wondering for years how to kill this nasty behavior. I only wish there was an easier way to handle this other than the manual process.

In ADE at least is very easy; just check the box when placing.
My wish would be to avoid the overexposure when overlapped or under shockwave landing lights :censored:.

Instant Scenery 2 allows me to right-click for object properties and set all kinds of XML switches.

Of course, Instant Scenery does not work in Prepar3d 2.x, but maybe it will some time in the future.

If I don't use "No Crash"...planes crash with the ramp lights. Tested and tried many times. Check the ramplights in McX, and you'll see the crash boxes.

Thanks for the "No Fog" tip! Because right now this is a big problem in P3D. Can you show me the xml code? I place the ramplights with IS2, and don't want to do it again for 34 airports. I just need to se the xml code for no fog, and where to put it. Does it look like this: <NoFog/> ?

Edit:

OK, I tried placing with ADE, using nocrash and nofog (xml code is as I guessed). Unfortunately, I still get white squares when foggy and dusk/night. Is there any remedy for this?

Another question: With the old FSX effects I used, is there any way to stop the effect from rotating to user?? It seems that in P3D2.2, the effects are vertical instead of horizontal, and rotates to user. Whish I could fix this...but dunno how.

Here's the xml code for one of the FSX effects:

I can confirm that the no fog option does not work. Any solution would be great.

One thing I was trying to think through, why would we get any lights showing through in daytime when the diffuse texture is transparent?
