• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3dv4 placement tool options

Hi all,

As a user of instant scenery 3 with fsx, just wondering what everyone else is using with p3dv4,

If is3 wont get updated are there similar tools youd recommend with a user friendly interface , or if nit friendly what would you use in thr future

Cheers

Thanks for the reply, Rob.

Indeed it does, I was aware of simdirector, but found it awkward to use at best, Guess I'll persevere.

Cheers

i'm not keen in IS way of using keys or joystick to move around and slew, SD is far easier by using the mouse. Also i have found after making all my models 115 so far in P3D formate MDL that IS will not import them to their lib maker!! i'm not exporting every one again.

Why would you not just make the object library .bgl with MCX? I place with IS3 and I never use any other part of the software beyond the in-sim GUI. Not sure what you mean about joystick/keys, either. How do you normally view things within sim, because there is noting about InstantScenery3 that compels one to do so using either joystick or special dedicated view keys and indeed you can change position by "grabbing" the ground with the cursor and dragging. All placement is done with the cursor and mouse-clicks. Perhaps you refer to IS placing the viewer in Slew mode. If you prefer hearing vehicle sounds and adjusting your field of view based on manipulating simulated flight dynamics, simply hit the "Y" key.

Indeed, although AFAIK, the developer "cannot promise a fixed release date yet", based on his statement in this post:

Earlier versions of Instant Scenery sold by Flight1, and the original EZ-Scenery sold by Abacus (developed by the same author, Konstantin Kukushkin) utilized MSFS "Slew" mode controlled via either the NumPad keys or the game controller / joystick, and IIRC, that mode is still available in IS3, although it is not the default 'control' method.

While Instant Scenery version 2 (aka "IS2") has nearly all FS9 / FSX / P3D SDK compatible scenery library object placement features as Instant Scenery version 3 (aka "IS3"), IS3 does have additional such FS9 / FSX / P3D scenery library object placement features as well as a number of CVX vector-type scenery creation options, and IMHO offers greater capabilities well worth the purchase price, as seen in the product demo / video:
