• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Parking Properties/Heading

As I haven't fully caught up on all of the threads in here, please feel free to delete if needed...

Anyways, when editing a parking spot's orientation, it can obviously have any heading from 0.0° to 359.9°. Would it be possible to have it "decriment" from 0.0° to 359.9° instead of having to click it up each time... (*obviously you could also just type it in*)

Just wondering - thanks :)

Hmmm I thought it would decrement with the lower arrow. I must admit I tend to type it in and then use the 'nudgers' for small adjustments

Jon,

I have one regarding the parking orientation as well.

  • I doubleclick a parking sport
  • I change the Heading value
  • The arrow of the spot is not updated in real-time (it would be nice if it would)
  • I close the dialog with OK
  • The still higlighted parking spot's arrow still does not reflect the new orientation (from here on we have to call it a bug :))
  • Only when I deselect and reselect the parking spot, the arrow is adapted.
Taking this chance: is it the goal to have the orientation changeable by moving the arrow ?

Cheers,
Martin

In the past we talked about adding to the parking spot a symbol of sorts to display the back of the pushback tug parking position.

This is needed to identify how close a parking spot can be to the Terminal without a Tug backing into the wall. I still have the math for the tug setting.

The Tug symbols could also be used to rotate the parking spot rather then using a type in heading value if that is possible to code.

The arrow won't move until you deselect the parking spot (*simply click on the background*)

I don't think it is necessary to update in real-time, however it should update as soon as you press "OK". :)

This is what I would like to see, and which would be the most convenient way to change this setting.

OK that reaches a bug Martin :) Yes I expect to allow users to change the orientation via the mouse but it is a bit down the list right now

Jim

Could you let me have the math for the tug please? Also did we agree to display TeeOffsets?

the math is on the other computer in the plane. I will have it tommorrow.

I am not sure a display of "T"s was decided on. You might want to display with the center line showing and then let the group decide if they are worth the visual effort.

I would agree that adding the locations of the tugs to the parking spot would be a good thing, but I'm not so sure about the offset lines. Unless you're zoomed in a good bit, I'm not sure that you'd be able to make them out unless you made the line extend to the outer border of the parking space, and even then you're just making the little circle even more crowded.

Why not changed the heading like it is done in AFCAD? There you do not have to open the properties but just click and drag a small circle to give it the right direction.

Hi Peter

That is what I am planning :)
