• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Piping made simple

I tried this method last night and yes, it's undeniably faster if you just need your tube/pipe to go from A to B. It works the same as a two point spline, where instead of messing with vertices "gizmos" you play with tensions and pivot points rotation. However, you can't create elaborated paths. Bummer!
 
Luca, why not create your "targets" as smaller objects to form one section of hose, then continue onwards in a chain until you have the shape/curves you need, then collapse them to poly and weld the ends of the hose sections together?

A========B========C=======D=======E

IOW, hose from A to B, then B to C, et etcetera? :idea:
 
That would certainly work, Bill, good thinking! Not the fastest method, but one would gain so much more control over the hose since the target objects being err...objects, could use all the various coordinate system advantages, unlike vertices on a spline.
 
Well! That was a waste of time. I did manage to create the "hose" but when I went for the magic trick to attach the ends to the two target objects, the darn "hose" became about 50' long instead of the 18" I had chosen as my "hose" length!

I'm trying to create a nice 'rope' between the wheel chocks, but not having any luck at all. :confused:

Forget the lenght, that's just for the hose creation. Instead play with tensions, I had to adjust mine from the original "100" to something like 0.2.
 
I cheated. I created a tube of the appropriate length then used a "Bend" modifier to make the 1/2 loop necessary. It is very low poly and serves the need good enough. This project is already four+ years behind schedule, so I need to quite wasting time on small details... :rotfl:

LOL Good one Bill. Sometimes we get hung up trying to use sophisticated tools when a simple approach is faster and less frustrating.
