• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Seems to be a battle we can't win. But worth trying anyway.

It appears to be indonesian, so not a lot can be done as piracy may be legal there. However the good news is that most users won't find that website as it doesn't rank very high in a google search so there is nothing to worry about.

Just enjoy the hobby and don't worry too much. I know a bunch of Ukrainian developers who sell their program very cheap so the local can afford to buy it, provides excellent support and provides updates for free for several years. It helped a lot to reduce piracy as nobody wanted to crack this game out of morality. However still recently some idiot kid hacker released a half broken crack for it.

Yeah, I guess linking it here makes it a lot more conspicuous.... I'll remove it.

Not only the most popular addons, on certain Russian websites I won't mention you can find almost anything. Even usually just a few days after release, mostly in crack topics. In fact I had a discussion with a friend of mine where I live about writing payware as a potential moneymaker and he said it was a slap in the face to the community as there's so many payware quality airports as freeware and tons of payware quality aircraft freeware.

There is even many times I see the developer of the cracked addon on the website stating that selling fs addons is his only state of income, and that he has a family to support, and the pirates didn't even care, yet, both the crackers and the developers were all Russians. I thought it was going to change around, that the piracy was reducing, but now recently it increased, maybe because of the current economic situation.

I still applaud any payware developer that makes a Russian airport or aircraft, it's very hard work and worth the money. In fact, many of these Russian addons (both freeware and payware) are equal to Aerosoft airport quality and PMDG aircraft quality.

As for the western side of piracy, it's highly illegal there. You don't get away with piracy like in eastern europe. I believe the people that pirate there are mostly kids though, who don't have credit cards and their parents won't buy them the addon. That indonesian website obviously asian, is probably because indonesian are less wealthy and can't afford the US/EU pricing, hence they resort to pirating. I guess mostly indonesian users use it, why care since they don't have money to pay anyway. As I've mentioned somewhere else, no matter what you do, lower your prices, provides excellent support, updates for free... there is always a kid who will hack the game.

Piracy is heavily correlated with (percieved?) economic situation... hence prevalence of piracy in the eastern Europe and Asia.

As for eastern Europe, fact that piracy was for a long time the only way to access many products, mainly western or dissident books, films, music etc. doesn't help.
Although I always find it funny in a tragicomical kind of way, when someone defends his piracy by not having money to pay for the products; yet they have a top-of-the-line computer that even most westerners would find just too expensive to justify.

top of the line computer? most people in my city use either very old computers or cheap laptops. Most simmers use FS9 due to that.

I do not know how come, but my contacts and friends do use quite good PCs in Russia, I mean like i5 8Gb rams and up.. To my opinion it is a mentality or human being nature to get anything free and it is not because of Eastern Europe and Asia, in this meaning - Russia. You all speaking out how bad piracy is but Im pretty much sure that none of us is sin free. I would laugh if there is one and if so - your soul will ascend...

You see, Russia has a better economy than most of eastern europe for the moment being which might be why, the average salary there is quite high these days but the piracy may be something left from the old days. I believe the average young man would laugh at you if you choose to pay for something you can get for free... Old instincts maybe. It's the same in other parts of eastern europe. About old computers and cheap laptop it's here in Belarus, Minsk, Grodno, Vitebsk, Pinsk... I honestly met only 2 people with gaming computers in this country. Then I have been visiting Bulgaria, Bosnia, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia... Few people had good computers, if you wanted a gaming computer you had to go to a public internet cafe to play those modern games. But the good news is... today even cheap laptops have pretty good specs, yes, my laptop for 500 euro or so has a Intel core i5 2.7 ghz, GT740M 2 GB GPU, 6 gb ram... About being sin-free you are right, there is probably none such person, only small children. All of us have done something wrong whether it's morally, war, criminal act, or even just lying or hurting somebody... It's important to be able to forget and forgive, the orthodox church tells us so.

I meant "Sin free" reference piracy, use of pirated things. So if we got that sin then what is the point to discuss the piracy ? Or may be church helps you clear the "piracy" sin ?

Sorry. Closing this thread. Specifically, our terms for the forum prohibit discussions of politics or religion.

As far as software piracy goes, it's bad for developers. We all know this. The OP made an error by pointing out a link, which he has rectified.
